On December 19, 2024, the Sustainable Project Management through PM² (SPM²) project was highlighted at the Project Management Best Practices Meetup, held at the Hellenic American Union Conference Center in Athens, Greece. Organised by the Hellenic American Union with the support of the PM² Alliance, the event brought together distinguished experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts to explore the evolution of the PM² methodology, 15 years after its introduction.

Shaping the Future of Project Management

This year’s meetup showcased how PM² continues to drive project management efficiency, with a special focus on emerging trends such as sustainability, artificial intelligence (AI), and portfolio management. The event highlighted the adoption of PM² across the public and private sectors, demonstrating its pivotal role in improving decision-making and advancing innovative approaches in project management.

The SPM² project was distinguished for its vision to integrate sustainability principles into the PM² methodology. Designed to align with the EU Green Deal and UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the project aims to transform project management education by developing:

  • A sustainability-focused curriculum and micro-credentials that align with industry needs and enhance employability.
  • The SPM² Guide and Digital Hub, featuring tools, templates, and case studies for sustainable project management.

The panel discussion provided a dynamic exchange of ideas on how PM² is evolving to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world, including its application in sustainability-driven initiatives like SPM².
