PM Agora 2025 convened project professionals, trainers, EU officers, and sustainability advocates from across Europe as a pan-European forum for sharing tools and initiatives that strengthen capacity building and innovation in EU-funded projects. Within the programme, PM² Alliance presented the Sustainable Project Management through PM² (SPM²) project in collaboration with PM² EU, with the aim of increasing awareness of the project’s outputs and its alignment with EU green and digital policy priorities.

During the dedicated session, PM² Alliance introduced the SPM² approach, which builds on the European Commission’s PM² methodology to develop a structured, sustainability-oriented project management education model. The presentation outlined the project’s core components, including:

  • the SPM² Guide, adapting PM² to integrate sustainability principles,

  • a Digital Resource Hub with tools, templates, and training materials for sustainable project delivery,

  • micro-credential pathways for learners and professionals in higher education and vocational training contexts,

  • collaboration with certification bodies and universities to support recognition and transferability of learning outcomes.

The session also highlighted SPM²’s contribution to the EU Green Deal, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and the growing demand for green and digital skills in project-based sectors. In collaboration, PM² EU shared insights into how its certification scheme complements the SPM² learning model, supporting professional mobility and lifelong learning through recognised qualifications.

The event attracted over 100 participants from Europe and neighbouring regions, including EU project managers and coordinators, trainers, sustainability experts, innovation consultants, policy-makers, educators, university representatives, VET providers, and certification institutions—an audience closely aligned with SPM² dissemination goals for both curricula development and workforce upskilling.

Participant feedback reflected strong interest in adapting existing project management frameworks to support sustainable development. Attendees noted the practical potential of the SPM² Guide for training institutions and EU project teams, welcomed the flexibility of the micro-credential model and its fit with European standards, and expressed interest in collaboration or piloting activities using the project’s Digital Hub and training resources. Discussions also reinforced the importance of standardising sustainability competencies across project management roles to build more resilient, impact-driven teams.

Dissemination and visibility were supported through PM Agora 2025’s official communication channels (website and email campaign), a news article on the PM² Alliance website featuring SPM², and post-event outreach via the LinkedIn accounts of PM² Alliance and PM² EU, extending engagement with the wider European project management community and strengthening outreach to academic institutions, public agencies, and training providers.
