The 2nd Jean Monnet ENROL School, held on December 3, 2024, at the Rectorate building of the University of Novi Sad, brought together a diverse group of professionals, academics, and students to explore the implementation of EU regulations in the fields of environmental protection, occupational health and safety, and labour relations. Among the highlights of the event was the presentation of the Sustainable Project Management through PM² (SPM²) Erasmus+ project, introduced as a key example of integrating sustainability into project management practice.
The session dedicated to SPM² attracted participants from various sectors, including environmental sciences, labour law, and public administration, who engaged in discussions on aligning local practices with EU standards. The presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Danijela Ćirić Lalić, project coordinator and professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad.
Prof. Ćirić Lalić emphasized how the SPM² project adapts the PM² methodology developed by the European Commission to embed sustainability principles across the project lifecycle. She highlighted the project’s strong alignment with the EU Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), positioning SPM² as a timely and strategic response to the evolving demands of project work in Europe.
Participants praised the initiative’s practical relevance and expressed a growing interest in applying sustainable PM² tools in real-world scenarios. The session sparked valuable reflections on the need for capacity building in sustainable project delivery and underscored the urgency of integrating ESG principles into both education and public sector project planning.
By featuring SPM², the ENROL School reinforced its role as a platform for critical dialogue between policy, academia, and practice — advancing the broader goal of fostering European integration through practical, knowledge-based initiatives.
